Jake, the Wineaux Dog

| September 7, 2010 | 1 Comment

He’s my new roomie, he’s a puppy (ten months at the time of this writing), and he’s a Wineaux.  Since he’s not yet of legal age, I don’t let him indulge directly from the glass, but he manages to let me know that he likes wine.  I mean, *really* likes wine!  Good thing he doesn’t have opposable thumbs and a high IQ.  He’d have the corkscrew goin’.

Take Labor Day, for instance.

Jake likes corks.  And I was finding wine corks EVERYWHERE around the house!  Well-chewed, of course.  Here’s the kicker – he only chewed on red wine corks.  He left the Chardonnay, white Burgundy, Viognier, etc., corks alone.  His favorite – as far as I can tell from the pulpy debris that he left behind, is Zin.  And you guys know me. You know I love Pinot and that there are quite a few Pinot corks in my collection of corks.  Jake likes Zin.  Who knew a dog would have such discerning tastes?

Unfortunately, cork, being a natural product, has a great deal of fiber. So darling Jakie will be spending a great deal of the next few days out of doors.

Cooper, my beloved departed Bernese, preferred beer.  Must have been the Swiss/Belgian/German breeding.

As an aside, I don’t have a screwcap collection.  Just as well.  They’d would really be pretty hard to digest.
