Although I’ve been here since Friday, this is the first post of my over week-long vacation in Paso Robles. Unfortunately, I don’t have my laptop with me, so the phenomenal photos and footage I’ve taken so far may have to wait until I’m home in front of the “real” computer.
The trip up here was uneventful – which is a good thing – except for the panic attack I had over the lateness of the hour that I left home. The Wineaux Guy thankfully talked me off the precipice, insisting that 5:00 a.m. was not “late.” Ok. He had a point.
Oh, and for those of you who have been asking, my mother (The Wineaux Mom) is doing fine now. She had some minor surgery a few weeks ago, and that was followed with an infection, so it was a little rough going for a short while. But she has recovered nicely, and I’m able to vacation!
Because I’m here for an extended period of time, I decided to rent a small apartment. I love this place! I could easily live here full time, and except for the commute to the day job, could almost be doable. Even as I write this, I’m relaxing on the sofa in front of the TV and enjoying a cup of coffee. Yes, there’s plenty of wine, but sometimes you just stick to your old habits.
Although it will be a while before I have the videos and really fabulous pics ready to post, I can’t wait to share them with you! I also can’t wait to share with you some of the places I’ve been, food I’ve had, Winemakers I’ve talked to, and wines I’ve tasted. The Wine Festival (except for the possibly overdone security procedures) was one of the best we’ve attended in years; the separation of the varietals was a major part of this. More on that later.
Well, I’m ready to go and find one of the many Farmers Markets in this beautiful area. The Wineaux Guy brought groceries, but not the super fresh fruits and veggies that we had planned to enjoy from the markets. I’ll keep y’all posted!
I will be sharing more of my week and adventures. I decided that one adventure I won’t be doing is ziplining. At least, that’s what I’m thinking today.
Stay tuned in case I lose my mind and decide otherwise.
