A couple of years ago, The Wineaux Guy™ and I went to Paso Robles to enjoy the Zinfandel Festival, and for a change of pace, we stayed in Cambria. Along with the gorgeous beach, the incredible Elephant Seals, and the beauty of our lodgings, we were surprised to discover that there were wineries that far out from Paso Robles, but still a part of the Paso Robles AVA. With the creation of this new wine trail, the Pacific Coast Wine Trail showcases these coastal wineries on their site. There are only six, but they have stellar wines. Four of the tasting rooms are open every day, the others on extended weekends. The drive from Paso Robles on Hwy 46 West to Hwy 1 is a beautiful one in the Spring, and you just have to visit them. The trip is more than worth it, and depending upon your dedication to speed limits, may only take about 20 minutes.
