The Best Pairing. Ever. Period.
It’s not that I have ADD and get bored easily, it’s just that I’m always looking for a way to improve the Vegas Wineaux experience.
I have a small food site called MirePoix Vegas. Every now and then I’ll do rants, reviews, or whatever, all about food, food on television, restaurants, recipes, and more. In the past I had mulled the idea of merging the two sites, and I finally decided it was time to do so.
Here in the USA, we think of wine strictly as an alcoholic beverage that is occasionally drunk with food. Food is something to keep us sustained, but as the numbers of diabetes, obesity, heart disease, and other food-related illnesses will tell you, we don’t pay a lot of attention to the quality of what we’re eating or how we’re eating it. I’ve tried to change that perception on MirePoix Vegas, and help people consider food in a different light.
At MirePoix Vegas, I’ve talked about everything from the annoying “Chairman” on Iron Chef America – one of my favorite programs, by the way – to recipes using frog fallopian tubes and bat nuts. It has quite the variety! However, I’ve always wanted to combine my food site and wine site because I thought they’d make an exceptional pairing (get it?). I’ve been reluctant to do so because of two reasons: one, the amount of work it’s going to take to tweak the Vegas Wineaux site to accept the MirePoix files, and two, MirePoix Vegas has a really killer logo. That I *ahem* designed. But I’ll be incorporating that into food-related posts. Somehow.
So what do I expect to accomplish? Well, I find that I am sometimes writing two articles that are closely related, but with a little bit of editorial restraint on my part, could easily be made into one post. My recent visit to the Bacchanal Buffet at Caesar’s Palace is an excellent example of that, with related posts on Vegas Wineaux and MirePoix Vegas. Another is the desire to incorporate more of actual Las Vegas into Vegas Wineaux. Yes, I talk about wine country a lot, but there’s so much here that I’d love to highlight from time to time that I feel that it can best be done by having everything in one place. For instance, there are tiny wine restaurants that, in my opinion, people need to learn about, but aren’t being covered anywhere. So what am I going to do with a review of a wine restaurant? Two posts on two different sites?
I don’t think so.
So sometime in the next few weeks, I’ll be doing the Herculean task of moving posts both old and new from MirePoix Vegas to Vegas Wineaux. While it’ll be quite an undertaking, I’m very excited about the prospect. The look of the site won’t change much, but there’ll be so much more to experience!
For those of you who asked, my two fun sites, Front Fenders ‘n Gum and The Gallery, are still on temporary hiatus until probably spring. A particularly nasty hacker attack took all of my sites out, and now those two are just “sleeping” until I can restore the old files and images. For obvious reasons, they’ll have to take a back seat to Vegas Wineaux and MirePoix Vegas.
