Embracing the Pause and Reconnecting with Our Passion
Merriam-Webster:
an interruption in time or continuity: BREAK
especially: a period when something (such as a program or activity) is suspended or interrupted
after a 5-year hiatus from writing
a summer hiatus
After a 7-month hiatus, it feels great to return and reconnect with the world of wine. During this break, I had the opportunity to reflect on my journey, rest, and rejuvenate, preparing myself to dive back into my passion with renewed enthusiasm. This pause period was not merely an absence but a time to gather insights, explore new horizons, and appreciate the things that matter most. Plus, it allowed me to do skeleton drafts of my next book. (Projected publication, December)
During this time, I’ve also been studying for my CSW (Certified Specialist of Wine) because I want to finish what I began nearly a decade ago when I missed passing the exam by TWO POINTS. Yes. I still get irritated beyond recognition over that!
One of the most significant realizations during this time was the importance of wine in my life—not just as a beverage but as a symbol of culture, history, and connection. For me, wine has always been more than just a drink or mere beverage; it is a story in a bottle, a testament to nature’s bounty, and a bridge that connects people.
Geez. I sound like a textbook. Which fits, I guess!

Talking About Wine Again
Wine is deeply embedded in the cultural fabric of many societies. It is present in rituals, celebrations, and everyday life. Wine’s history stretches back thousands of years, intertwining with the stories of civilizations and their evolution. As we savor a glass of wine, we partake in a shared heritage that spans continents and generations.
Conclusion
This break has provided a fresh perspective and a deeper appreciation for the experiences that wine brings into our lives. Join me on this journey of rediscovery as we “uncork” new adventures and celebrate the timeless allure of wine.
Next up is the continuation of Andras’ 99 Wines series, and I will be throwing in a bit of my own. In addition, I have travel, food, events, reviews, and other wine-related (and sometimes random) adventures to share.
And as always, Stay Tuned…
