A friend recommended the Italian American Club as the “Must Try” Italian Restaurant. So away we went! What a great evening! Going in through the lobby is a step back in time to vintage Vegas. A huge back bar made of mahogany and filled with all the appropriate Scotch, whiskey and other high-end liquor. Some of the rooms have red brick walls while others are adorned with artwork reflecting pictures of casinos of bygone days which made me feel old since I recognized many that I visited when I was younger.
The lobby is filled with photos of the who’s who of the Frank Sinatra era. You can close your eyes and almost feel the Rat Pack in the house.
The Food
I highly encourage anyone who loves Italian food to try this vintage hidden gem.
Andrea greeted us with a big smile and decanted our wine. Corkage is a mere $20! I looked at the wine list and it was both impressive in its choices and the prices were well below the Strip levels. She told us about specials and made some recommendations. I ordered the Shrimp Cocktail and the Spaghetti Bolognese while my wife ordered the Caesar Salad and the Sole Parmagiano.
The Shrimp were well chilled and cooked perfectly. It came with a remoulade sauce and a spicy shrimp cocktail sauce. Perfect starter. The Caesar Salad was crisp and served in Parmesan Bowl which was a really nice touch. Andrea checked with us a couple of times about how the food was and was very timely on making sure we had full wine glasses.
The entrees did not disappoint! My Bolognese was delicious. Pasta was a perfect al dente. The meat was hearty and the sauce was well balanced with the meat. The fish was fresh and cooked perfectly with the Parmesan crust. The sauce was light and did not overpower the fish. A side order of angel’s hair pasta accompanied the fish. Again, Andrea made trips to check wine levels and ask how we were enjoying the food. The server assistants were very quick to fill water glasses and clear dishes when we were finished.
As full as we were after the meal, we shared a Creme Brulee which was just perfect as a finish. A light custard with nice caramel crust and fresh Blueberry, Raspberry, and Strawberry topping. My compliments to Chef Mammo for a wonderful evening.
For the quality of food, level of service and cost, I plan to make this a regular dining destination and highly encourage anyone who loves Italian food to try this vintage hidden gem.
There is entertainment regularly so check the web site http://www.iacvegas.com for dates and times and enjoy the dinner and show experience.
